In a nutshell - we (three travel writers, a food writer and a travel photographer) will be on location in Sofia this summer for three months. We will be investigating all of the different places to stay and the local sights, attractions and entertainment for a new edition of a popular travel guide (The first time we have published a dedicated Sofia book).

Sofia, as you will no doubt have noticed, is not blessed with many modern travel guides - in fact we haven't found one yet (See our Amazon List of Sofia and Bulgaria Travel Guides">Amazon list of Sofia and Bulgaria travel guides with good Sofia sections).

In total we are scheduled to stay in 108 hotels, apartments, hostels and private homes in Sofia (Please send us recommendations to your favourite places) between July and September.

If you are looking for a Sofia Hotel now and cannot wait for our new Sofia hotels guide then we would suggest you check out the usual suspects - here are direct links to their Sofia hotel pages: Hotels.com (Sofia), Expedia.com (Sofia), Travelocity (Sofia), eBookers.com (Sofia). Also worth a look try LastMinute.com (Sofia) and LateRooms.com (Sofia). Take 15 minutes to check them all as we have noticed different rates and more often different availability from each site.

Sofia does not have a large number of international brand hotels, but if you want to charge your loyalty points there are a few, including the Hilton Sofia, the Radisson Blu Sofia, and the Holiday Inn Sofia.

You can see all of the hotels, apartments, bed what is really good at each hotel? what is not so good? please help us discover the best and worst bits of each establishment by sending us details of your past experiences.

What are your best experiences in Sofia ?. When we are not fast asleep in our Sofia hotel beds what should we be doing? Do you have any favourite Sofia cafes, restaurants or bars? Do you know the special places jealously guarded by the locals? Do you have any funny stories about your time in Sofia? Please let us know your stories so we can ensure we organise a really action packed itinerary and ensure that we unlock the best bits that Sofia has to offer.

Thank you for your feedback and we look forward to reporting back on our trip later in the year. Please send us feedback, ideas and recommendations to 2010@SofiaHotels.com

IMPORTANT. We pay our own way, do not accept any freebies and visit each establishment anonymously.

Best wishes

John, Alice, Simon, Jennifer and Oscar

We're not pretty but also in the interest of anonymity we have not published pics of our faces.
